.. this idea seems also worth exploring:

Boston to Debut iPhone App for Municipal Complaints
Michael Levenson, reporting for The Boston Globe:

City officials will soon debut Boston’s first official iPhone application, which will allow residents to snap photos of neighborhood nuisances - nasty potholes, graffiti-stained walls, blown street lights — and e-mail them to City Hall to be fixed.

Thought I'd test it the other day with a question about where to find up-to-date info on likely impacts of the (effing) Olympics on False Creek-area neighbourhoods. Waited 15 minutes and got a helpful young lady who gave me a URL for a page on the City's website, which proved to have some useful basic information and is apparently updated regularly. If I have a complaint, it's that the "hold" music is absolutely bloody horrible and keeps repeating itself, as does the announcement every 10 seconds or so that "all operators are busy; please continue to wait". Yeah, right, kinda gathered that; why not tell me something useful while I'm waiting, or just shut up?

I'm sure that most of the start-up glitches will eventually be worked out. But I'm still not convinced it was worth the money.
