The 10th council candidate for the NPA: Kanman Wong

September 13th, 2008 · 3 Comments

I posted last night that I was wondering if the Non-Partisan Association would bring its 10th candidate up to scratch by this morning. They did, but not the retired police officer I’d been hearing rumours about. Instead, we got the news as we came into the NPA nomination meeting this morning that the the new candidate is Kanman Wong. Wong ran for the Conservatives in 2006 in Vancouver Kingsway but was defeated by, you guessed it, that noted Liberal David Emerson.

Wong, whose Wikipedia entry says he provides computer equipment for film productions, will be speaking at the meeting here later this morning. I hope he can make himself heard over the chitchat of the couple dozen party faithful who have turned up this morning to do their political duty, even while the sun is shining outside.

By the way, the school board slate still has empty spots that weren’t filled by the time the meeting started.

  • I know Kanman from being on the District Parents Advisory Council together and also from both working for UBC. While we may disagree on a range of political points, I have always found Kanman to be dedicated, hard working, and reasonable in his approach to things. Since I live with the school district but not city council boundaries I don’t get a chance to vote for Kanman but I do wish him well in his endeavour!

  • I met Kanman on West Broadway. He is a true gentelman and worthy of city council.

  • David Duke

I used to work with Kanman in the computer industry and have only good things to say about him. He is one of the most intelligent, hardworking and dedicated individuals that I know and I would be proud to have him on city council.
